How To Be Happy...And You May Just Change The World.

To be a Modern Rosie, you have to be willing to do it yourself. Sometimes, though, you have to admit defeat, and purchase items from outside sources (Some more then others). Sheika Lugtu is the perfect person to show you how you can do JUST THAT, and be a happier person for it. This video post has moved all of the Union Riveters, and we hope it inspires many of you to make a change, that may change the world!

Sheika Lugtu lives in Long Beach where she draws a semi-daily comic diary at OMGCow .

She is engaged, and mommy to a fur baby kitten. We are very honored to have Sheika submit to the Modern Rosies blog, as she is a huge inspiration and very dear friend to Brooke, one of our Union Riveters. Expect to see great things from Sheika in the near future, as well as more Modern Rosies posts.

  2. If I wasn't a big believer in handmade, local & small business, listening to Sheika's vid would have turned me into a handmade lover!

  3. I was just talking about the importance of supporting small, local businesses today with my local dog-wash business that carries great food and products. My husband and I decided to special order the doggy car seat we wanted through them rather than getting it online (they used to carry them, but the company that makes the doggy safety equipment lost their distributor). We will need to wait a little longer for it, but it's worth it to keep this shop open - they're so wonderful to have here in town (and they're nice guys). Until it arrives, we'll just switch our current car seat back and forth between the two cars.

  6. This is so well-said! I want to send this to everyone I know who chooses to buy from big-box stores because handmade or locally owned is "too expensive." (or maybe have it playing on a loop in my booth at my next craft show!)
